Above are pictures gathered from the web of the famed Chautauqua Gorge. The State Forest has parking, picnic and camping facilities on the eastern side of the gorge, but the gorge itself is on private property. Good news: approximately 25 acres of the gorge, running from the southern end of the Fish and Game Club southward (upstream) alongside the Chautauqua Gorge State Forest, is currently now up for sale, and the property manager has approached the Town of Chautauqua, the Chautauqua Water Conservancy and the State Forest to collaboratively purchase this GORGEous shangrila for public enjoyment.
Chautauqua Gorge Organics
Being a certified Master Gardener and having managed large organic produce gardens and a farm stand in Maine for over a decade, I am excited to be designing a large permaculture organic farm, combining huglekultur and terrapreta techniques into my homestead, above the gorge on the western side. It's in the design phase, so check back to see the progress.
